How can I ask families to confirm authorizing agent status at the time of checkout?

We understand that Funeral Directors often struggle with identifying the appropriate individual to approve authorizations (i.e. providing authorization to cremate the decedent). Therefore, we have created the option for a family to acknowledge an authorizing agent during the online checkout process. This will enable Funeral Directors to verify the correct person earlier in the arrangement process while Parting Pro confirms and records the Authorizing Agent's information. Please see below for details.

**Please Note** You will need to contact Customer Support to enable the Authorizing Agent feature in the checkout process.

How will this look on the checkout page for our customers?

In order to see what your customer sees, navigate to the last page of your online checkout process. When the Authorizing Agent feature is enabled, they will be asked a question on that page and required to select Yes or No in response. If Yes is selected, the informant only needs to complete the checkout at that time. If No is selected, they will need to provide the first and last name, phone number, email address, and relationship of the Authorizing Agent in order to proceed. A link labeled "How do I know?" will also be available to click on explaining what the role entails:

Again, if the customer selects No, they will be asked to provide the name (required), phone number, email address, and relationship of the Authorizing Agent:

The below example of what appears when clicking on the link for "How do I know?" is based on Oregon's criteria. This can be customized to your preferences. Just reach out to our support team at [email protected] with details and we'll get that updated for you:

When the customer has provided the requested information (or not, depending on their selection) and submitted the online checkout, that information will then flow into the Case Details.

How will this look in Case Details for me and my team?

Once the online checkout has been submitted by the family and the case is now in your dashboard, click into the case and select Details to show the checkout details in the Payments tab:

The section for Authorizing Agent will appear below the Contact information. If the Authorizing Agent is different from the Informant, you will see a red banner notification below the details:

In Case Details, you'll find the Authorizing Agent information located below the First Contact information. Like First Contact, you have the option to check the box if the Informant is also the Authorizing Agent and if the box is checked, the information should auto-populate with the information from the Informant section:

The Authorizing Agent can be set up for all need types; at-need, imminent, or preneed. If you only need certain need types selected, we can accommodate this for you.
