Notifications: In-App Notifications and Messages

Parting Pro sends you real-time notifications for case activity, tasks, and events, right inside the dashboard and optionally to your mobile phone via SMS. You can choose exactly which events you want to hear about and through which channel.

πŸ‘₯ Who can use it: All funeral home staff with a Parting Pro login (admin and team member roles).

1. The notification bell

The notification bell icon appears in the top navigation bar. When you have unread notifications, a badge shows the count. This includes case activity, task, and event notifications together.

πŸ”” Click the bell to open the notifications panel on the right side of the screen.

2. The notifications panel

The panel lists your recent case activity notifications. Each row shows what happened, which case it is for, and when.

  • Reading a notification: Click any row to mark it as read and go directly to the relevant task or case.

  • Unread vs. read: Unread notifications appear with a visual indicator. Once you click a row or click "Mark all as read," the indicator clears.

  • Re-unread: If a notification you have already read receives new activity before you act on it, it will flip back to unread so you do not miss the update.

  • Mark all as read: Use the "Mark all as read" button in the panel header to clear all unread indicators at once. Archived notifications are not affected.

3. Archiving and deleting notifications

  • Archive a notification: Hover over a row and click the archive icon. The notification moves to the archived section at the bottom of the panel. You can still access it there.

  • Delete a notification: Open the archived section and delete a row permanently. Deleted notifications do not come back.

  • Clear all archived: Use the "Clear all archived" button to remove all archived notifications at once.

4. Filtering your notifications

Click the filter icon in the panel header to open the filter options.

  • Unread only – hides read notifications so you only see what needs your attention

  • Show archived – expands the archived section

πŸ› οΈTask notifications

The following task events generate notifications for the assigned team member:

Notification type

When it fires

Task assigned

A task is assigned to you on a case

Task reassigned

A task you were assigned to is given to someone else

Task status updated

The status of a task assigned to you changes

Task completed

A task assigned to you is marked complete

Task priority changed

The priority of a task assigned to you is updated

Task due date changed

The due date of a task assigned to you is changed

Task overdue

A task assigned to you passes its due date without being completed

Task reminder

You have tasks due today (see Section 6)

πŸ—“ Event notifications

The following event-related changes generate notifications:

Notification type

When it fires

Event created

A new event is added to a case you are involved with

Event updated

The date, time, location, or duration of an event changes

Service details changed

Service details on a case are updated

Event reminder

An event you are involved with starts in approximately 1 hour (see Section 6)

6. Reminder notifications

Task reminders

Once a day at 8:00 AM (in your funeral home's local timezone), you will receive a notification if you have any tasks due that calendar day. If you have nothing due today, you will not receive a reminder that day.

Event reminders

Approximately 1 hour before any event that you are involved with, a reminder notification is sent. If multiple updates were already made to the event recently, the reminder may be skipped to avoid sending too many notifications at once.

7. Configuring your notification preferences

Go to Settings β†’ Notifications β†’ Case Activity

Case activity:

Each event type has two toggles:

  • In-app – controls whether the event appears in your notification panel inside Parting Pro. On by default for all case activity types.

  • Messages (SMS) – controls whether you receive a text message to your mobile phone when the event happens. This column is only active if you have a mobile phone number on your Parting Pro profile. If you do not see SMS as an option, go to Admin β†’ Team, find your profile, and add your mobile number.

Tasks & Events:

Go to Settings β†’ Notifications β†’ Tasks & Events to control task and event notification types separately.

  • All notification types are turned on by default.

  • Each user controls their own notification types; changes are saved immediately.

To turn off a notification type:

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Notifications β†’ Tasks & Events.

  2. Find the notification type you want to adjust.

  3. Toggle it off.

Toggle any event type on or off and your changes save automatically.

8. SMS notifications

When you have a mobile number on your profile and the SMS toggle is enabled for a case activity event type, Parting Pro will send you a text message when that event happens on any case you are connected to.

SMS messages are sent from Parting Pro's notification number. Standard carrier messaging rates may apply.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need to set anything up to receive notifications? No. In-app notifications, including case activity, tasks, and events work immediately for all staff, all notification types on by default. For SMS (case activity only), you need a mobile phone number saved to your Parting Pro profile.

  • When do task and event notifications start? You will start seeing task and event notifications in your bell starting July 9 without changing any settings.

  • Can I turn off all notifications? Yes. Go to Settings β†’ Notifications and toggle off every event type you do not want, including individually under Tasks & Events. Your preferences are saved per user and do not affect your colleagues' settings.

  • Can I turn off just one type of notification, like overdue reminders, without turning everything off? Yes. Each notification type has its own toggle. Go to Settings β†’ Notifications β†’ Tasks & Events and turn off just the types you do not want.

  • I am getting too many notifications. What should I do? Go to Settings β†’ Notifications β†’ Tasks & Events and turn off the types generating the most noise. Task reminder and task overdue are often good starting points if volume is the issue.

  • Will I get a notification if I assign a task to someone else? These notifications are focused on the assignee. If you assign a task to a teammate, they will get the notification, not you. We are working on additional scope options that may be a future enhancement.

  • Can my admin turn off notifications for the whole team? No. Notification preferences are per user. Each team member sets their own preferences, including under Settings β†’ Notifications β†’ Tasks & Events. Admins cannot adjust settings on behalf of other users.

  • Why do I see a lot of unread notifications when I first open the bell? This can happen after the notifications system is first enabled. Use "Mark all as read" to clear them if you do not want to review each one individually.

  • Are notifications shared with my whole team? No. Each person's notification panel shows only their own notifications based on their individual settings and role on the case.

  • Can my colleagues see my notification preferences? No. Notification settings are private to each user.

  • What does it mean when a notification flips back to unread? It means new activity happened on that same item after you marked it read. For example, if a payment notification was marked read but another payment came in for the same case, the row reactivates so you do not miss it.
