Managing Obituary Creation Settings
As a Funeral Home Admin user, you have access to manage the automatic creation of obituaries for new cases. Here's how you can enable or disable this feature and manually manage obituary details.
Note: Our Obituary Integration is only available for Parting Pro website partners at this time. Additionally, you must be an Administrator within your dashboard to access these settings.
Enabling & Disabling Automatic Obituary Creation
When logged in as a Funeral Home Admin user, navigate to Settings to find the Obituary page within Integrations. Here, you will see the Obituary creation toggle setting. This setting controls whether obituaries are automatically created for all new cases.
To Enable Automatic Obituary Creation:
Navigate to Settings → Integrations → Obituary
Turn on the ‘Enable automatic creation of obituaries for all new cases’ toggle.
A confirmation window will appear. Click Enable to confirm.
When enabled, obituaries will be automatically created for all new cases that meet the field requirements detailed below.
To Disable Automatic Obituary Creation:
Navigate to Settings → Integrations → Obituary setup.
Turn off the ‘Enable automatic creation of obituaries for all new cases’ toggle.
A confirmation window will appear. Click Disable to confirm.
If Disabled, obituary creation must be managed on a case-by-case basis through a toggle setting located within each case details.
Automatic Daily Obituary Creation: How it Works
If the Enable Automatic Daily Obituary Creation setting is enabled, Parting Pro will automatically send information to generate an obituary creation every day at 9 PM EST.
Once all necessary information about the informant and decedent is collected, the obituary will be hosted on your obituary microsite and featured on your Parting Pro website. Additionally, the informant and/or next of kin will receive an email inviting them to become "keepers" of their loved one's obituary.
Fields Required to Trigger Obituary Creation
The following case details fields are required to trigger the automatic obituary creation for a case. If data is missing from one or more of these fields, the obituary will not be created.
Informant Fields:
First name
Last name
Email
Decedent Fields:
First name
Last name
Date of birth
Date of death
Understanding the Case Details Obituary Information Sections
Within the Case Details of each case, you will find the following section and subsections:
Obituary information
Obituary details
Flower delivery details
Obituary Details
In the Obituary details section, funeral home users can manually manage obituary creation. This is essential if the automatic obituary creation setting is disabled.
If automatic obituary creation is enabled:
The ‘Enable obituary creation’ toggle will be enabled by default for every new case.
If automatic obituary creation is disabled:
The ‘Enable obituary creation’ toggle is disabled by default and you must enable this toggle within each case if you would like to create an obituary for that case.
The URL field below the 'Enabled obituary creation' Toggle will be auto-populated with the obituary page URL upon successful creation and publication of the obituary on your obituary microsite.
Note: Any team member can view the unique obituary URL, however you must be an obituary admin to change and edit the unique URL generated. Team members can share this URL with the Decedent's loved ones.
Flower Delivery Details
Here, you can add a delivery address for condolence flowers. This allows for the delivery address to pre-populate when loved ones order flowers through the 'Send Flowers' button on your website.
Note: Loved ones can input a different delivery address during checkout, if they would like.
