Understanding the Different Obituary User Permissions

Learn more about what obituary Administrators, Editors, and your Families have permission to do and not do when managing memorial pages.

User Permissions

Administrators have the highest level of permissions and a Family Member has the least.

Administrator

(Location Leader)

  • Create/edit any obits

  • Review/Accept/Decline all requests and flags associated with any obit

  • Edit moderation settings for the org

  • Add/edit/remove staff users

Editor

(Funeral Director / Arranger)

  • Create/edit any obits

  • Review/Accept/Decline all requests and flags associated with brands they serve

  • Edit moderation settings for the org

  • Add/edit/remove staff users

Family Member

  • Access/edit obituaries that they created/were given access to – this is called being a "Keeper"

  • Review/Accept/Decline all requests and flags associated with obits where the individual is a Keeper

  • Request to become a Keeper of another obit

  • Edit moderation settings for the org

  • Add/edit/remove staff users

  • Edit Obits they are not the Keeper of


User Roles

Administrator

Who is this?

  • Manager of Funeral Home

  • In charge of company policy or operations

  • In charge of onboarding/training new team members

  • Oversee all online obituary page activity

What can they do with this access?

  • Create a memorial page

  • Edit any memorial page associated to with the business

  • Review/Accept/Decline all Requests and Flags associated to obituary page activity

  • Edit Moderation settings

  • Add/Edit/Remove any users including other Admins

  • Edit the Business Page

Editor

Who is this?

  • Funeral Director of Funeral Home

  • Admin is their boss

  • Part of their job is create and edit memorial pages for families they work with

  • Expected to review and moderate all online memorial page activity

What can they do with this access?

  • Create a memorial page

  • Edit any memorial page associated to with the business

  • Review/Accept/Decline all Requests and Flags associated to obituary page activity

They cannot do the following:

  • Edit Moderation settings

  • Add/Edit/Remove any users including other Admins

  • Edit the Business Page

Family Member

Who is this?

  • Someone who has been invited to become a Keeper of an online obituary page that has been created for their loved one

What can they do with this access?

  • They can only access the memorial page they have been invited to

  • Edit the obituary page associated with their account

  • Review/Accept/Decline all Requests and Flags associated to obituary page activity

  • Create a Living Memorial page for themselves

  • Request to become a Keeper of another obituary page

They cannot do the following:

  • Edit a page, review Requests, etc. of other pages owned by the funeral home that they are not a Keeper of
